Early Christmas in The Waiting Room – Hexham

Personal Post!

As an early Christmas treat, myself and two others booked and stayed in a gorgeous venue called The Waiting Room in Northumberland. It’s a Victorian waiting room for a disused train station that has been remodelled to become a small cottage, but still holds all the charm and character that it had before then.

We arrived late on Friday night to find it all decorated and lit up by the owners (who live in the old stationmaster’s house next door), which was a super welcoming treat when we were all super tired from the journey. On Saturday, we had planned to visit Hadrian’s Wall, but with winds up to 40mph and the chill being around -6 degrees, we opted for a cosy day indoors instead. Part of the reason we’d booked The Waiting Room was because it looked interesting both inside and out, so we got to fully experience the cosiness of the venue. Sunday was our fake/early Christmas Day when we opened presents and had Christmas dinner, and where we also went for a walk around the local area since the weather was much nicer. We woke that day to find the place glowing with sunlight, and I just had to capture it. We left on Monday, but really cherished the short time we’d had in The Waiting Room.

Due to a shoulder injury, I’ve avoided carrying my camera where possible for the moment, so all of these photos are taken from my phone. However, I did my best to capture the charm and unique layout of the home, and I hope you enjoy them (as well as some photos from our walk).
